Tri-colored foliage makes this plant quite an attractive AND useful ground cover in the everyday landscape. Pinks, white and purple set off amazing bright blue flower spikes of cover the foliage in May and June. Ajugas are extremely hardy groundcovers and resemble a colorful carpet spread over the landscape. Spent flowers can be removed by mowing or using a string trimmer if desired. Tips from Fran
Excellent ground cover to use as an ornamental lawn alternative, with a light amount of foot traffic. Can be used as a lawn substitution if Ajuga blooms are cut back to make way for normal foot traffic.
Also...this plant can be quite drought tolerant with the correct conditions, but can also whither under drought conditions as well. If you want to use this for drought conditions, please be aware that it is a bit "ify" for severe drought, but a drier location with intermittent watering may be just fine.
